Jul 29, 2018 running El Capitan 10.11.6. I'm using Garageband '08 4.1.2 (248.7) and I'm wondering if I could upgrade that to 5.0.2 or 6.0.4 or '09 or whatever? I'm happy to buy the upgrade, just not sure about compatibility issues and I'm not sure what version would be best so as to not exceed my (old) machine's limitations. On El Capitan you can run GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5. To get this version you have to purchase an iLife '11 installer DVD. Apple does no longer sell iLife '11, but you may still find it at Amazon or eBay. This will install an early version of GarageBand '11.
